Play Poland Film Festival has been the first of such grand events promoting Polish cinematography in Great Britain in history, says the festival’s chairman Mateusz Jarza, the director of Polish Art Europe, the non-profit organisation which promotes Polish culture and art in the UK. Before starting the organisation of the festival we carried out a research in order to measure an interest in Polish film industry and a festival project connected with it. It appeared that more that 95 percent of respondents are convinced that there are too few Polish movies shown in the UK. We believe that Play Poland Film Festival will considerably improve the situation and will give Polish film artists an opportunity to visit the UK more often, says Mateusz Jarza, explaining the main idea of the event.

Play Poland in Ireland

Play Poland – Irish Polish Film Project

The Play Film Project is an Irish- Polish film festival that takes place in July 2011. The event is being prepared by Mosaic Arts Movement in collaboration with Crewger, Pegbar, BFCE Irish Animation School, Open Air Cinema and the Underground Cinema. The project is a part of the Play Polish Film Festival, the longest Polish film festival in Europe held in the UK in May- September 2011. The key organiser is the Polish Art Europe in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The key idea behind the Film Project is to form a collaborative network between Irish and Polish professional and amateur filmmakers, animators and film course students that could both enhance their works and encourage common projects and undertakings. The artistic venture aims at incorporating the Polish cinematography into the Irish film environment through a blend of Irish and Polish productions, workshops and educational talks. Last but not least the festival is tended to mix indoors activities with outdoors screenings in the public spaces so as to attract a larger audience and broaden the access to arty films in a non-cinema surrounding.

The core of the film project is clusters of Irish -Polish artworks and cinematic productions (theme blocks) that are groups in terms of subjects and issues touched by creators. The idea is to have different artists presented together in the field of socio-cultural and creative parallelism.
